The TOC-L series of TOC analyzers uses the 680°C combustion catalytic oxidation method. This method was developed by Shimadzu and is now widely used industry-wide. The analyzers have a measurement range of 4μg/L to 30,000μg/L.The lower limit of detection of 4μg/L can be achieved.This is the higher detection sensitivity that can be achieved by using the combustion-catalytic oxidation method. In addition, combustion-catalyzed oxidation makes it possible to effectively oxidize not only low-molecular-weight organic compounds that are easily decomposed, but also insoluble and macromolecular organic compounds that are difficult to decompose.
Wide measurement range of 4μg/L~30,000mg/L for a wide range of substances from highly pure water to highly polluted water (TOC-LCSH/CPH).
- Can be used for TC, IC, TOC (= TC - IC) and NPOC measurements; optionally can determine POC (Volatile Organic Carbon), TOC (via POC + NPOC) and TN (Total Nitrogen) measurements.
- The Blank Check function evaluates system blanks by measuring high purity water that is automatically processed within the instrument.
- The auto-dilution function allows measurements up to 30,000 mg/L.
Reliable sampling system
- Automatic sample acidification and purging
- The automatic sample dilution function reduces the concentration of sample acids, bases and salts, which is important for prolonging the life of catalysts and combustion tubes (the life of catalysts and combustion tubes depends on the sample and measurement conditions).
- Samples can be inserted into the analysis table at any time without stopping the operation, even when using the autosampler.

In addition, the external interface using USB improves the versatility of the device. Even a stand-alone model can be output to a personal computer printer or USB storage device.
Optional accessories to further enhance functionality
For the TOC-L series, a wide range of optional accessories are available to provide a variety of enhanced features. These include simultaneous measurement of TOC and TN (Total Nitrogen) (when the TN module is added), use of an air compressor (when the Carrier Air Purification Unit is added), and measurement of both gas and solid samples (when the Gas Injection Unit and Solid Sample Determination Unit are added).
The determination of seawater samples and the determination of trace samples have also been enhanced.
Space-saving and energy-efficient design
The width of the instrument has been reduced by 20% compared to Shimadzu's conventional models, a design that allows for more efficient use of laboratory space. The width of the instrument remains unchanged even with the addition of the TN accessory.
This instrument is stamped with the Shimadzu Energy Saving Logo. Energy saving 43% (220V), 36% (110V) compared to Shimadzu conventional models
(assuming 8 hours of operation/day) * 5 days/week
