The Taber 5900 Reciprocating Abrasion Tester is similar to the test apparatus described in ISO 1518 and can be used to evaluate the resistance of materials to abrasion, scratching and scuffing, as well as other physical property tests.

Unique design, easy to operate and apply

The test specimen is held on a horizontal table and is abraded as it moves horizontally with a prescribed abrasive and load. A weight is attached to the opposite end of the test arm to maintain the balance of the arm to ensure accurate loading of the sample surface. The abrasive and load holders are adjustable in height to accommodate samples of varying heights. Parameters such as stroke, speed and load can be adjusted.

A variety of additional configurations are available to meet more testing needs
The test arm utilizes the principle of leverage, with a weight at one end to adjust the load on the sample surface to ensure the reliability of the results.The Taber 5900 Reciprocating Abrasion Tester is used for evaluating the resistance of materials to abrasion, scratches and scuffs, as well as for other physical property tests. Special accessories are available to meet the test method BMW 14125 to test the abrasion resistance of textiles using different abrasion media.

Specialized Test Arm Kits
Using a special test arm kit (sold separately), the Taber 5900 Reciprocating Abrasion Tester can test up to three samples simultaneously, allowing the operator to make timely inter-sample evaluations.
